Pomeroy golfers second at four-way pod match at Columbia Point

RICHLAND - Pomeroy's golfers came in second at a four-way pod match at Columbia Point here Tuesday.

The Pirates carded a team 190, behind Tri-Cities Prep's 177, on the nine-hole par-37 course.

Liberty Christian marked a 194 and St. John-Endicott had a 209.

Tri-Cities Prep's Colin Price was the medalist with a 41.

Riley Bott and Tyson Feider carded 44s for the Pirates, while Tanner Feider had a 45 and Wyatt Hyer marked down a 57.

"It was a good day," said Pomeroy coach Jim Greene. "Weather-wise, it was decent. For three of our kids, it was their first time on the course. It was a lot of fun."

And the sun was shining. The Pirates were snowed out of practice in Pomeroy on Monday.

"The kids felt like they left a couple of strokes out there, but they felt good overall," Greene said. "We've got a better idea of the course and its hazards now."

Two of Pomeroy's golfers were on a school trip and did not play.

The Pirates return to Columbia Point for a boys All-District 9 invite Thursday.
