ATHENA - Weston-McEwen topped Heppner in a single game in Special District 5 softball play Tuesday, 10-0, in six innings.
"It turned out pretty well for us," said W-M coach Jeff Griggs.
Haley Freske pitched the complete-game shutout, allowing Heppner just two hits on the day and striking out 10. She also went 2-for-3 with a double and a triple and brought in two RBI.
Molly vonBorstel was 4-for-4 at the plate with three RBI. The TigerScots put together 11 hits in the victory.
Heppner came into the game at 6-1 on the year. The win pushes the TigerScots to 3-0 in league and 10-3 overall.
Irrigon comes to town for an 11 a.m. doubleheader on Saturday.
