W-P keeps Tri-Cities Prep scoreless in two

PRESCOTT - Waitsburg-Prescott handed Tri-Cities Prep two shutouts in Southeast 2B softball action here Wednesday.

W-P's Jennifer Nichols and Kazmira Grende pitched the shutouts, leading W-P to 10-0 and 11-0 victories to improve them to 6-0 in league play on the year.

"In the last couple of games, we've played pretty consistently," said W-P coach Angie Potts. "We've been hitting the ball well, our fielding has been tough and our pitchers are putting up solid numbers, so it's a matter of getting rid of the one or two errors in the games and improving on the little things."

W-P made two errors in game one and one in game two.

Grende and Nichols didn't give up any walks to the visiting Patriots.

"They started the year a little rusty, but they've steadily cut the number of walks," Potts said. "They're not making it easy for batters to get on base."

W-P is 8-1 overall. They head to Colfax tonight to make up a rained-out nonleague game, then resume league play Saturday at Liberty Christian.
