Dayton falls to T-O-R baseball team

DAYTON - Dayton dropped a baseball doubleheader to Tekoa-Oakesdale-Rosalia in Southeast 2B league play Saturday.

T-O-R picked up the first game, 16-11, and though the Bulldogs carried a 5-0 lead into the fourth inning of game two, they couldn't hold on in the 13-5, six-inning loss.

They were down 11-2 after two and a half innings in game one.

"We battled back," said Dayton head coach Sal Benavides. "We hit the ball really well."

Hayden Fullerton hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the third inning to close the Bulldogs to 11-5.

Fullerton also relieved Colton Bickelhaupt in that inning on the mound.

Fullerton led the Bulldogs with three hits, including a double and the homer.

The two combined to give up 11 walks and three hit batters.

"That did us in," Benavides said. "We were hit for hit with them, but we allowed 14 extra hitters on base."

Game two was a similar story. Dayton grabbed a quick 5-0 lead, but T-O-R answered in the top of the fourth with five runs of their own.

"I was feeling really good," Benavides said. "But it just didn't pan out. We were looking good but we fell apart in the fourth. We let a couple of runners on, they put on a suicide squeeze and we finally threw to first, but they scored two runs and the ball never left the infield. That deflated us."

The losses drop Dayton to 2-4 in league and 4-7 overall. They host Touchet in a nonleague game at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
