Dayton, T-O-R split softball doubleheader


DAYTON - Dayton and Tekoa-Oakesdale-Rosalia split a softball twin bill here Saturday.

The Bulldogs dropped the first game, 8-6, but got a grasp on T-O-R pitcher Briann Maley for a 15-11 nightcap win.

"We didn't get our bats alive in the first game until the last inning," said Dayton assistant coach Desirae Jones of the pair. The Bulldogs had four of their eight hits in that inning, she said. "We left a couple out there and got a couple of errors."

T-O-R scored four in the sixth and seventh innings to end a 2-0 Dayton lead.

The Bulldogs got their bats together for the offensive-charged, game two win.

"We still had more errors than we like to have," Jones said.

The Bulldogs made four errors in the win.

Dayton pitcher Samantha Harting recorded five strikeouts in game two. She had three walks. Kayla Turner had eight strikeouts and two walks in game one.

The Bulldogs (9-1 overall, 5-1 in league) host Touchet in a nonleague match at 3 p.m. Monday.
