Touchet pitching and hitting lead to softball sweep

TOUCHET - Touchet got pitching in game one to defeat Garfield-Palouse 8-1, and Indian bats erupted in game two as the Indians won 15-5.

The sweep improves the Indians to 2-1 in district nine softball play.

Nicole Brown fanned 11 Vikings in pitching a complete-game two-hitter in the opener.

"It was Nicole's best outing of the year by far," Touchet coach Gary Dorman said. "She threw first-pitch strikes and was on top of her game."

The Indians scored two in the third to give Brown all she needed. Brown and Jessie Morris led the offense with two hits each.

The Indians pounded out 15 hits in completing the sweep with a 15-5, five-inning win in game two.

Taylor Jasperson led the hit parade with three hits. Makayla Bishop and Brown combined to limit the Vikings to only three hits from the circle.

"We put the bat on the ball as well as we have all year," Dorman said. "Everybody in the starting lineup had a hit."

The Indians travel to Dayton for a non-league game Monday and return to league play with a trip to St. John-Endicott Friday.
