RICHLAND - Waitsburg-Prescott and Liberty Christian split a Class 2B District 9 baseball doubleheader here Saturday.
Each team collected 13 hits in the opener, but W-P came out on top, 11-9. Zach Bartlow and Dalton Estes had three hits apiece in the game while Matt Hamilton and Joe Purdin had two each.
In the second game, the visitors managed just three hits and suffered a 10-0 loss in a contest called after four-and-half innings due to the mercy rule.
Hamilton highlighted a five-run W-P rally in the third inning of game one with a three-RBI double.
Estes delivered a two-run single in the sixth.
"We couldn't get the bats going. It was frustrating," W-P coach Dustin Snedigar said. "We couldn't carry over the offensive momentum from the first game."
Bartlow struck out four and did not issue a walk before being lifted in the seventh inning of the initial game.
W-P plays at Dayton next Saturday.
