W-P softballers sweep Liberty Chrisitan

RICHLAND - Waitsburg-Prescott put on an offensive display in sweeping a Southeast 2B twinbill from Liberty Christian here Saturday.

W-P pounded out 18 hits to post an 18-0 win in the opener and continued to pound the softball with 14 more hits in completing the sweep with a 16-4 win in the nightcap.

"Our 32 hits on the day tells the story," W-P coach Angie Potts said. "Our pitchers located well and didn't let them get anything going. I'm pretty pleased."

Jennifer Nichols pitched the four-hit, five-inning complete game opening shutout. She got all the offense she needed from Hailey Goenen, who ripped a home run among her three hits. Dionna Baker and Samantha Moss also collected three hits to pace W-P.

Same story, second verse in the second game. W-P put 16 runs on the board in three innings and coasted home.

Rhiannon Chapman led the 14-hit W-P attack with three hits.
