ATHENA - Weston-McEwen picked up a 13-5 win over the Pendleton JV in nonleague baseball action Monday.
The TigerScots improved to 9-5 overall with the win.
"We've had some bys and some rainouts, so it was good to add this game," said coach T.J. Haguewood.
Matt McGill pitched the first five innings for the TigerScots.
"He was solid," Haguewood said.
Although the team wasn't as clean as Haguewood would like, he was pleased with the nonleague win.
"We're still making mistakes, but we're coming around," he said. "A lot of our early-season work is starting to pay off."
The nonleague game was also a good chance to play some of the team's younger athletes, Haguewood said.
"We got to play everybody," he said. "It's a good chance to get guys in there."
The TigerScots (6-1 in league) play Heppner (5-1 in league) on Saturday.
