PILOT ROCK - Weston-McEwen dropped a single softball game to Pilot Rock in Special District 5 play Tuesday.
The TigerScots lost, 6-1, but had missed opportunities to win.
They opened with a Morgan Entze triple, then Molly von Borstel got to second on a fielder's choice.
With runners on second and third and no outs, Pilot Rock pitcher Kaylee Jensen struck out the next two TigerScots and the third was a ground-out to close the inning.
"That was a big moment in the game," said W-M coach Jeff Griggs.
The Rockets scored two runs of their own in the bottom of the stanza, then two in the second and fifth.
Weston-McEwen's only run came in the third, when von Borstel singled, Rilei Hill sac-bunted but reached base on an error, and Haley Freske singled von Borstel home.
The loss drops Weston-McEwen to 4-2 in league play and 11-4 overall. They play a single game at Stanfield at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
