Mary T. Schuetze, a resident of Regency at The Park, passed away March
27, 2011, at the age of 85. A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on April 30, 2011, at Assumption Catholic Church with a reception to follow in the church hall.
Mary was born Sept. 6, 1925, in Paxico, Kan., to John and Loretta Roth. She graduated from St. Mary's High School. After graduation she taught school in a one-room school house. On Oct. 15, 1949, she married Donald F. Schuetze, a local boy who worked on her father's farm. They moved to Walla Walla for her husband's job. After several years they moved to Hawthorne, Calif. Where she was a stay-at-home mom to their six kids while also running an in-home daycare. In 1970, they returned to Walla Walla, where Mary worked at the Walla Walla Cannery and then at Nelson Irrigation, where she worked until her retirement.
She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandkids and great-grandkids. She enjoyed reading, sewing and playing bingo at the Eagles Lodge. She was a member of the Assumption Catholic Church.
She is survived by her children, daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Robert Gianetto of Redmond, Wash.; daughter, Deborah Granger of Poulsbo, Wash.; daughter, Cynthia Bartlett of Walla Walla; son and daughter in-law, Douglas and Sue Schuetze of Prosser, Wash.; daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Wayne Zier of Walla Walla; and son and daughter in-law, Jeffery and Laurie Schuetze of Wasilla, Alaska; two sisters, Edna and Rose Roth of Colorado Springs, Colo. 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren She is preceded in death by her husband, mother and father, three brothers and three sisters.
