WALLA WALLA - Pink is back, Sweet Lou has his own bobblehead night, and fireworks will once again light the night sky at Borleske Stadium as the Walla Walla Sweets have announced the release of their 2011 promotional schedule.
"With the weather warming, people are starting to think Sweets baseball," said Sweets' general manager Zachary Fraser. "We are excited that the promotions schedule will be one that can make every member of our community excited to be at Borleske Stadium this summer. Our partners have really stepped up to make this a great schedule that has something for everyone."
Opening Weekend 2011, beginning with Opening Day on June 3 against the Corvallis Knights, will be presented by Northwestern Mutual and the offices of Aaron Swanson. The first of nine giveaway nights will be June 4 and the first 1,000 fans will receive a 2011 magnet schedule courtesy of Northwestern Mutual, 1490 ESPN Walla Walla, and the Union-Bulletin.
Another key giveaway night is the first bobblehead in Walla Walla Sweets history, as Sweet Lou will be captured in this historic caricature presented by Coffey Communications on June 20 against the Portland Stars. This collector's piece will once again be available to the first 1,000 fans through the gate.
Pink Night presented by J.U.G.S (Just Us Girls Sharing) is back, as Sweets players will don custom pink jerseys and caps and swing pink bats on Friday, July 15. The club and J.U.G.S will again work in tandem to raise funds for breast cancer treatment. The players' jerseys, caps and hats will be auctioned off with 100% of the proceeds staying in Walla Walla. In 2010, over $4,000 was raised to help fund breast cancer education, programs and treatment for area families. To sweeten the night, the first 1,000 fans will receive 18" replicas of the pink bats the players will be swinging on the field.
