A collision between a car and a semi truck sent one driver to the hospital and one vehicle to the tow yard Monday afternoon.

Washington State Patrol responded to a crash on U.S. Highway 12 at Humorist Road, five miles east of Pasco, at 4:28 p.m.

Paul D. Halsey, 66, of Kennewick was stopped to yield to an emergency vehicle at the intersection when his 2008 Chevrolet Silverado was struck in the rear by the 1995 Peterbilt tractor driven by Kenneth McCarty, 61, of Wenatchee.

McCarty was not injured but Halsey was taken to Lourdes Medical Center in Pasco.

Troopers named inattention as the cause of the accident and cited McCarty for speeding.
