A power failure Wednesday night darkened sections of College Place and elsewhere.
The power failure occurred at 10 p.m. and affected 7,147 homes and businesses, said Tom Gauntt, Pacific Power spokesman. Electricity was restored after about a minute.
The power went off when workers had to change a switch at a transmission station because it was failing, Gauntt said.
Earlier in the day, the lights went out at downtown businesses for about 25 minutes after a truck snagged a guy wire, Pacific Power officials reported.
The electrical system shut down as a preventive measure, cutting power to 486 customers, said Pacific Power spokeswoman Jan Mitchell.
The power went down at about 1:23 p.m., she said. It was restored at 1:48 p.m.
