Mrs. Elizabeth "Betty" Perry passed away peacefully at Park Manor Rehabilitation Center following a short illness. A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Masonic section of the Mountain View Cemetery with the Rev. Adam Kirtley officiating. A church service will follow at 11 a.m. First Congregational Church at 73 S. Palouse St.

Visitation is scheduled Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Herring Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder St. Memorial contributions can be made to the charity of your choice.

Betty was born to Heinrich Brautigam and Eva Elisabeth Fuchs Brautigam of Kolb, Russia. Betty was educated in Walla Walla and lived here continuously except for the time she spent in Baker, Ore. where she and her husband, Ray C. Perry, owned and operated a paint store. Betty married Ray Perry in 1938, and celebrated over 54 years of marriage together. Betty was a homemaker as her sons Greg and Steve were growing. Betty was a scout leader and remained active in scouting through Greg's Eagle Scout award. In addition she worked at the state Department of Public Assistance for several years, and later was a school food service worker at Garrison Junior High when it opened. In 1958, she joined the staff of Walla Walla Federal Savings and Loan Association and was appointed as vice-president and secretary in 1976. Betty served as secretary in the Altrusa Club before retiring. Betty and Ray were active in Walla Walla Yacht Club, where she served as secretary for several years. Betty was well loved by everyone who knew her. She was named boss-of-the-year by Illahee Chapter of American Business Women's Association. She was the first woman to be so designated by the chapter. Betty was an active, contributing member of First Congregational Church all her life. She served as treasurer for the Women's Fellowship, and served on the board. She enjoyed participating in bowling leagues and golfing with her husband. Betty and Ray were snowbirds and spent many winters in Mesa, Ariz. Her happiest times were spent with her family.

Betty is preceded in death by her son, Gregory Ray Perry, her husband Ray Charles Perry, her three brothers, sister and her parents.

Betty will be missed by her son, Stephen Charles Perry, (Leslie), grandchildren: Kathy Fulmer (Floyd), Dr. Charles W. Perry (Kristi), and Ryan G. Perry (Stacey)as well as her eight great-grandchildren, Jessie, Maya, Ali and Mic Fulmer; Jackson, Elin Perry; Haas Caliway, Felton Briggs Perry. Betty, you made the world a better place. We miss you.
