Gayla E. Bishop

Walla Walla - Gayla E. Bishop, 71, died August 9, 2011, surrounded by
her family at her home.
Gayla was born August 14, 1939, in Portland, Oregon, to Edwin and
Roberta E. Stanton Gadwood. She graduated from Sandy (Oregon) High
School. On August 16, 1957, she and Wilton Bishop married at the Chapel
of the Hills in Cherryville, Oregon.
A homemaker, Gayla began working for Lutcher's in 1975 and later
worked at The Launching Pad Restaurant. She established a
catering department for Whitman College, working there
for 17 years. She started her own business, A Gayla Affair
Catering, in 1994 and Mr. Bishop joined her in the business
following his retirement. They sold the company in January,
2007.
Gayla was a member of Blue Mountain Riders, Walla
Walla Choral Society and First Presbyterian Church. She
enjoyed singing, flowers, cooking, spending time with her
family, RV traveling and horses.
She is survived by her husband at home; three sons and
daughters-in-law: Rand and Margaret Bishop, Gregg and
Sonja Bishop and Cory and Michelle Bishop all of Walla
Walla; four grandchildren: Rand and Cynthia Bishop and
Jennifer and Ryan Botts; and five great-grandchildren. She
was preceded in death by her parents.
Family and friends may pay their respects from 1:00 to
7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 11, 2011, at Mountain View-
Colonial DeWitt, 1551 Dalles Military Road, Walla Walla,
Washington. The graveside service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday,
August 12, 2011, at Mountain View Cemetery, 2120 S. 2nd
Avenue, Walla Walla. Following the graveside service on
Friday, there will be a memorial service at First Presbyterian
Church, 1st and Birch Streets, Walla Walla. Pastor Albert
Gillan will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made
to the Christian Aid Center or First Presbyterian Church
through the funeral home.
