Activities and weekly lunch menus at area senior centers

Activities offered daily at The Center at the Park, 720 Sprague Ave., include pool and cards from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. A list of center activities, classes and health and welfare programs may be found in the center's monthly newsletter. The annual center membership fee, $12 per person, includes a subscription to it. Spanish is spoken at the Center. Adult day care is provided at the Adult Day Center 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday. Call Mike Johnson at 509-527-0771 for information.

Senior Round Table luncheons are served weekdays 11 a.m.-1 p.m.. For information call 509-527-3775. Bread and milk are served with all meals. A vegetarian option and salad bar are available Monday-Friday. The menu this week is:

Monday: Creamed chicken over biscuits, green beans, tomato slices, biscuit, peaches and cookie.

Tuesday: Beef and bean taco salad, fruit juice, corn bread, melon.

Wednesday: Turkey and dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, peas, bread, pears.

Thursday: Sloppy Joes, carrots, green salad, bun, applesauce.

Friday: Macaroni and cheese with beef patty, flavor fiesta vegetables, green salad, bread, plums.


Lunch is served at Waitsburg Presbyterian Church, 504 Main St., Waitsburg on Tuesdays. Home-delivered meals available. Questions: call 527-3775


Milton-Freewater and Weston seniors can enjoy hot lunches and socialize at the senior centers in Milton-Freewater and Weston. Activities are offered 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesdays and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Fridays at the Milton-Freewater Senior Citizens Center, 311 N. Main St. Hot lunches are served at noon on Tuesdays and Fridays. Bingo is 1 p.m. every Tuesday and pinochle is 7 p.m. every Friday. The Weston Senior Citizens Center on Main Street is open for social time and a hot lunch is served at noon on Wednesdays.

The suggested donation is $3.50 for meals for those 60 and older or children under 8; and $6 for those 59 and younger. Bread and milk are served. Milton-Freewater menu:

Tuesday: Spaghetti, meat sauce, mixed vegetables, chilled pears and cheese, garlic bread, peach cobbler.

Friday: Roast beef, whipped potatoes, mixed vegetables, peaches, pudding.

The Weston menu is:

Wednesday: Lasagna, green beans, tossed salad, garlic bread, fruit cobbler.

Seniors of the Blue Mountains and Walla Walla Valley offer a meal at noon Thursdays in the Milton-Freewater Community Building, 109 N.E. Fifth Ave. Suggested donation is $3.50:

Thursday: Baked chicken, baked beans, potato salad, dessert.

Senior Roundable Alaskan Barbecue Dinner is Friday

The Senior Roundtable 8th Annual Wild Alaskan Barbecue Dinner od 5-7 p.m. Friday at the Center at the Park, 720 Sprague Avenue. Tickets: $15 in advance, $20 at door. Call 509-527-3775.
