WALLA WALLA -- One hundred eighteen drivers recently found out that speeding doesn't pay.
A speed enforcement effort between July 15 and Aug. 7 resulted in that many speeding tickets issued to drivers in Walla Walla, Asotin and Garfield counties, the Washington State Patrol reported.
In addition, officers issued five aggressive-driving citations, eight cellphone violations, two seat belt tickets, three child seat infractions, eight uninsured motorist and two suspended or revoked license violations.
Also participating in the effort were the Walla Walla, Clarkston and College Place Police Departments and the Garfield County Sheriff's Office.
The patrols were funded by a grant from the Washington Traffic Safety Commission in addition to support from the Walla Walla County Traffic Safety Task Force.
