Incumbent hangs on to second place in Port of Walla Walla race

Mike Fredrickson is just 11 votes ahead of Richard Monacelli, and both trail Barlow Corkrum.

WALLA WALLA - First-term Port of Walla Walla commissioner Mike Fredrickson was in danger of losing his seat in the Tuesday's primary as he held onto an 11-vote advantage over third-place candidate Richard Monacelli in early returns. Both trailed real-estate investor Barlow Corkrum, who held a huge lead in the race.

Corkrum had 41.3 percent of the votes, 1,011, to Fredrickson's 723 - 29.6 percent - and Monacelli's 712 - 29.1 percent.

Of 4,917 ballots in hand at the Walla Walla County election office, 53 remained to be counted, as well as any mailed but not yet received.
