Judith F. "Judy" Mitchell of Milton-Freewater passed away Aug. 12, 2011, at the Blue Mountain Community Care Facility in Milton-Freewater at the age of 70 years. Funeral services will be Thursday, Aug. 18, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home in Milton-Freewater with Pastor Quinton Kimbrow of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Milton-Freewater officiating. Concluding services and interment will be in the Weston Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Walla Walla Community Hospice through the funeral home.
Judy was born Oct. 14, 1940, in Fort Leavenworth, Kan., the daughter of Walter and Mabel F. Minear Overstreet. The family moved to Longview, Wash., where she graduated from the R.A. Long High School. On June 2, 1965 she married Allen L. Mitchell in Longview. The couple moved to the Athena-Weston area. Judy owned and operated the Country Bumpkin Restaurant in Athena. For many years she raised
cattle and horses. She loved all animals. Allen preceded her in death on Oct. 22, 1999.
She is survived by a sister, Sharon M. Lee Romero in Mexico; a brother, Walter J. Overstreet, Jr. of Ridgecrest, Calif.; a half-brother, James C. Eblen of San Diego; a close friend, Bob Pratt of Milton-Freewater; and numerous nieces and nephews.
