WALLA WALLA - The 111th Pacific Northwest Men's Amateur Championship conducted by the Pacific Northwest Golf Association (PNGA) has selected Wine Valley Golf Club to host the 2012 amateur championship next July 9-14.
Wine Valley Golf Club, which opened in 2009, has already hosted the 2010 Northwest Open and will host the tournament again Aug. 22-24. Wine Valley Golf Club has also hosted the WSGA Men's/Men's Senior Best-Ball this year and the WSGA Mid-Amateur last year.
Dan Hixson designed Wine Valley over 7,500 yards of open, rolling terrain. The main defense of the golf course is its huge, deep bunkers and large, undulating greens.
"We are very honored to be awarded the Pacific Northwest Amateur, and I think the course will give the amateurs a challenging but fair test of golf," said John Thorsnes, Wine Valley's Director of Golf.
Wine Valley Golf Club is ranked in the Top 100 Modern Courses and is ranked second for "Best Courses You Can Play in the State" by Golfweek.
The Championship begins with 36 holes of stroke play qualifying, followed by a cut to the low 64 players who will advance to single elimination match play. For more information, contact Brent Stewart at brent@winevalleygolfclub.
