Central Christian to facilitate CROP Hunger Walk meeting

WALLA WALLA - Central Christian Church, 66 S. Palouse St. will hold a CROP Hunger Walk information meeting 7 p.m. Monday. All churches, organizations and individuals interested in the walk to alleviate hunger may send a representative. This is an opportunity for youth mission projects, business team building, school class challenges, or a family activity to promote service to others. The fall CROP Hunger Walk will be at 2 p.m. Oct. 9, from the dome at Walla Walla Community College, 500 Tausick Way. Registration begins at 1 p.m. Twenty-five percent of funds raised are returned for local food banks. Donations can be made online at cropwalkonline.org. Call 509-525-1376 for details.

Unity Church of Peace plans sing-along at Rooks Park
WALLA WALLA - Unity Church of Peace will hold a sing-along, 5:30-8 p.m., Saturday, at Rooks Park. Participants shold bring s'mores fixings, drinks and other munchies, musical instruments, copies of favorite camp songs and folding chairs. Grace United Methodist pastors hold office hours Saturday
WALLA WALLA - The Revs. Linda Weistaner and Sonya Watts, of Grace United Methodist Church will hold office hours at 7:30 a.m. Saturday at Coffee Connections, 57 E. Main St. Saturday. Unity Church of Peace to hear talk on attachment, suffering
WALLA WALLA - Unity Church of Peace. 810 C. St., will presenting Rev. Joy Kachel at 10 a.m. today. She will speak on "The Consequences of Attachment," with a focus how attachment causes suffering, seen from several points of view. Unity Church is near the Walla Walla Regional Airport.

Pataha Flour Mill plans old-time gospel sing, potluck on Aug. 28
PATAHA - Pataha Flour Mill, near Pomeroy, will hold its 14th Annual "Hometown Revival" Old-time Gospel Sing on Aug. 28 at 3 p.m. The event is characterized by spirited community singing and sharing, along with favorite Gospel songs by a wide variety of vocalists and instrumentals hosted by the Jon Van Vogt family. Other participants may to take part by calling the Mill at (509) 843-3799. The Sing is followed by a potluck supper for all. An offering will be taken.

Touchet Valley's quarterly call to prayer is slated Sept. 1
DAYTON - The next call to prayer, sponsored by the Touchet Valley pastors, will be at 7 p.m. Sept. 1at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 601 S. Third St. in Dayton.
The Rev. Greg Bye will facilitate the quarterly prayer meeting for the people of the Touchet Valley.
In addition, there will be a special Unity Service at 10 a.m. Sept. 11 at the Columbia County Fairgrounds.
The annual event is a time for valley churches of the valley to worship together and support the Columbia County Fair.

This year's service will take place on the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States, making it an especially appropriate time to pray together for the nation.

Beth Moore Bible study begins Sept. 7 at SonBridge center
COLLEGE PLACE - SonBridge Community Center, 1200 S.E. 12th St., is offering the DVD Bible study for women "Breaking Free," by Beth Moore, noon to 1 p.m., starting Sept. 7. The free series is every Wednesday through Nov. 16.

Christian Women's Connection luncheon is set for Sept. 14
WAITSBURG - Christian Women's Connection will hold its monthly luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sept. 14 at the Waitsburg Fairgrounds in the Lion's Club Building for $9.
Jerilyn Jackson, who moved to Longview, Wash., will speak.
Lois Hemphill will bring the special feature, Etch a Stretch, to teach you how to breathe and stretch. Hemphill has been a massage therapist for several years.
Ginny Jones, who just moved to the area from Nile Valley, will sing. Sheila McIlroy will accompany on piano.
