A woman was injured Monday afternoon in a rollover wreck at Middle Waitsburg and Chase roads, officials said.
The woman, in her mid-20s, was behind the wheel of a Ford Festiva when she lost control of the car at 2:30 p.m., went off the road and hit an embankment, according to Undersheriff Edward Freyer. "It rolled at least once, end over end."
The driver was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the two-door, hatchback, Freyer said. She suffered a spinal injury and was taken by ambulance to Providence St. Mary Medical Center, he said, adding his office is not releasing the driver's name.
Investigators were uncertain today if speed was a contributing factor. However, that stretch of the road was not the problem and the issue could be "a momentary loss of control," Freyer said. "Chalk it up to distracted drivers."
