Walla Walla man charged in Wednesday rape

Donald R. Lackey is accused of attacking an acquaintance that evening.

WALLA WALLA -- A local man was formally charged Thursday afternoon in Superior Court with raping a female acquaintance at a local residence this week.

Donald R. Lackey Jr., 44, is accused of second-degree rape.

The woman told police Wednesday night that at about 6 p.m., Lackey pulled the back of her hair, dragged her into a bedroom, pushed her face down onto the bed and raped her, according to a police report filed in court.

After he left, she was taken to Walla Walla General Hospital, where medical personnel saw evidence of sexual assault, the police report says.

Lackey was located downtown that evening and arrested. In an interview with police, he reportedly claimed he and the woman had engaged in consensual sex.

Lackey is incarcerated in the County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bail.
