Mac-Hi falls to Pilot Rock, Grant Union

MILTON FREEWATER - Mac-Hi's Ricky Sandoval led the Pioneers in points Saturday night against Pilot Rock in boys Class 4A basketball, but Pilot Rock left town with a 46-31 victory.

Sabul Ortiz had three assists out of the game total of four, but Mac-Hi was unable to keep up with Pilot Rock during the second quarter as Pilot Rock took a 26-12 lead.

During the second half, Mac-Hi held Pilot Rock to only a 14-point lead, but was not able to catch up. During the final quarter, a Pilot Rock player scored, but into the wrong basket, giving Mac-Hi an extra two points and bringing the final score to 46-31.

Mac-Hi played Grant Union on Friday night, but lost 70-24. No further statistics were available.

"The goal for tonight's game, as a team, was to outscore the opponents," assistant coach Marco Martinez said. "But we did not finish as an offensive side. We did, however, achieve the goal of keeping them from scoring over 50 points".

Mac-Hi hosts DeSales on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
