UMATILLA - After the long football run at Weston-McEwen, the boys turned back to basketball defeated Umatilla 68-59, having had just three full-team practices prior to Saturday's match.

Dallas Reich double-doubled with a team-high 26 points, and added 11 rebounds. Ron Terjeson also doubled-down, dropping in 17 points, 12 rebounds and blocking three shots.

Riley Sederburg had 11 rebounds and seven points; Elliot Salter added nine points and had seven of the team 11 steals.

Weston-McEwen held a comfortable lead throughout most the game according to coach Brian Pickard.

"We were ahead 10-12 points in the first half," he said, "then we pushed it to about 15 in the fourth quarter. Umatilla got it down to as little as eight near the end, but we won."

Pickard thought conditioning was a bit of a problem, and that his team would have played better if they hadn't been tired.

All in all, Pickard was happy with his team's performance after only several full practices before the game.
