LETTERS TO THE EDITOR - Walla Walla takes care of its own

Once again the community of Walla Walla and the Walla Walla Realtors Association need to be commended on coming forward in a time of need.

The Realtors along with family, friends and complete strangers, came to our rescue. Each year the Realtors set a goal, this year they exceeded that goal.

The final count on pounds of food is 45,548 pounds. BMAC Food Banks shelves are full and we can do the work that we strive to do to feed the families in our community.

I want to express my gratitude to everyone who made this event a success.

After an article in the Walla Walla Union-Bulletin appeared letting people know that volunteers were needed, the gates opened and the community came forward to help.

Peter Swant headed up the event again this year. He truly believes in this and works tirelessly to make it a success, as do all the Realtors involved. It is a big undertaking, but he does it because he believes in this community and its people's willingness to help others.

This is just another example of how the community of Walla Walla takes care of its own.
