Knebel, Reisdorph, Jenkins take home titles for Pomeroy grapplers


POTLATCH - Tory Knebel claimed an individual title at 170 pounds while Wyatt Jenkins and Austin Reisdorph took home titles at 160 and 195 pounds, respectively, to lead Pomeroy to a top-five finish here Saturday during the annual Dick Griswold Memorial Wrestling Tournament.

Knebel won all five of his matches, four of which were claimed by pin. Jenkins and Reisdorph each won four matches, all by pin.

The best of the rest for the Pirates included a second-place finish by Wyatt Hyer at 138 pounds. Jacob Moore and Taylor Lewis placed third at 145 and 152 pounds, respectively.

In all, 10 Pirates competed in the tournament. Four others did not participate due to illness.

"It was a good day, not bad," Pomeroy coach Derek Shawley said. "For the first outing of the year, we're looking all right

McCall, Idaho, emerged from the 14-team field with the team championship.

The Pirates' next competition comes Tuesday at Tri-Cities Prep.
