PILOT ROCK - The Pioneers trailed Pilot Rock by only four, 10-6, after one, but the Rockets kept expanding on the lead and finished with a 56-21 win.

"We were down a lot the first time we played them," Pioneers coach Nicole Christian said. "We have to keep working and making adjustments. We're improving where we can."

Mac-Hi trailed 24-11 at the half and the Rockets scored 32 second-half points for the final margin of victory.

The Rockets Jordan Jeppe led all scorers with 13.

Makia Carlson paced Mac-Hi with 12 points. Kaitlin Erm chipped in eight and led the Pioneers on the glass with nine rebounds.

Senior Jolene Brannan drew praise for her defensive work.

"Jolene did an excellent job defensively," Christian said. "Makia had a great night.

"If we can eliminate the turnovers (36 on the night), and put four quarters together, we'll be a different team," Christian added. "We have a lot of work ahead."
