PENDLETON - Wa-Hi limited Pendleton to 11 second-half points here Tuesday night and pulled away to a 46-34 girls non-league prep basketball victory over the Buckaroos.

The Blue Devils led 26-23 at halftime.

"We played really well last night on the road in a tough environment," Wa-Hi coach Jill Meliah said. "Pendleton is a scrappy team, and they never quit. I was really proud of the way that we answered every one of their runs with one of our own."

Maddie Jacobson scored 19 points to pace the Blue Devils and MiKayla Ferenz was also in double figures with 11 points. They each connected three times from beyond the 3-point arc.

"She can flat out score, and she did that last night," Meliah said of Jacobson. "I thought Mikayla Ferenz also had one of her best games in her short varsity career."

Kate Ferenz snagged six rebounds as the Blue Devils outrebounded the Bucks 35-31.

The Buckaroos were led by Gabriella Heehn's 19 points.

Pendleton, which forced Wa-Hi into 25 turnovers in the game, put up 49 shots from the floor, eight more than the Blue Devils. But Wa-Hi connected on 16 of its 41 attempts while the Bucks hit just 11 times from the field.

Wa-Hi entertains Richland Friday in a Big Nine Conference game.
