SEATTLE - Walla Walla closed out the pre-Christmas portion of its basketball schedule on a sour note here Sunday as Bellevue spanked the Warriors 88-50 in the championship game of the Seattle NWAACC crossover men's basketball tournament.

The defeat left the Warriors with a 7-3 record going into the break. Walla Walla won't play again until Dec. 28 when the Warriors meet Everett in the first round of the three-day Clackamas Christmas tournament.

"We didn't have any energy," WWCC coach Jeff Reinland said. "We had played two really tough games before Sunday's game. We had to come from behind against Green River on Friday and we were down by 19 with 10 minutes to play on Saturday against Seattle and came back.

"We were on an emotional high after that Seattle win, but physically we were exhausted."

Bellevue used its superior size and inside scoring to build a 40-21 halftime lead which the Bulldogs expanded upon in the second half.

"We cut it back to 14 points, maybe 12, about midway in the second half," Reinland recalled. "But then they went on another run and it kind of got away from us."

Keston Hayenga was a thorn in the Warriors' side all night, scoring a game-high 28 points and sharing rebounding honors with teammate Laszlo Miller, each with nine. The Bulldogs outboarded the Warriors 43-36 and also forced WWCC into 26 turnovers in the game.

Dallen Bills had a steady game for Walla Walla with 15 points and six rebounds. Dylan Radliff and Mac Stannard scored 10 points each for the Warriors, with Radliff also dishing out a game-high six assists and Stannard leading his team with seven rebounds.

Unable to score effectively around the basket and get to the free-throw line, the Warriors settled for 28 3-point attempts and made just six of them for a chilly 21 percent.
