On Friday morning, the last day before holiday break, a young man came to Lincoln High School bearing gifts -- 17 backpacks filled with food, handwarmers, toiletries, blankets and sleeping bags for our students.
He told me his church youth group had heard about our school and wanted to help make the holidays and winter a bit happier and more comfortable. This is not our first community act of kindness.
We have been extremely fortunate this year to have many people donate clothes, food and gifts to our students. I appreciate Walla Walla for being such a generous community and for looking out for those who may be struggling both economically and emotionally.
What a wonderful place to live. Happy holidays.
