WALLA WALLA -- A Walla Walla couple escaped an early morning fire on Figueroa Street after their dogs woke them up.
"That's the only reason we're alive," said Antonio Campolio, a chef at the Marcus Whitman Hotel & Conference Center.
Walla Walla Fire Department and Fire District 4 crews responded to the fire at 7:24 this morning at 1219 Figueroa, and Campolio and Vanessa Ferraro were able to get out of their rental house along with their dogs.
"I stood in the front yard in my boxers," Campolio said. "We lost everything."
The owners of the residence declined to comment on the blaze this morning, and fire crews were still investigating the cause of the blaze this morning.
Campolio added he and Ferraro will have a place to stay over the holiday.
