WALLA WALLA -- Council Members Dominick Elia and Fred Mitchell attended their last City Council meeting on Wednesday.

Each leaves with an impressive 20 years of service on the Council.

Both, however, are still a few months shy of the record held by Dan Swank, who served 201/2 years.

Mitchell was first elected in 1987 and served from 1988-1991.

After sitting out a term, Mitchell was reelected and has served continuously since 1996

Elia was elected in 1991 and has served continuously since 1992, along with Council Member Jerry Cummins.

Elia and Mitchell lost their runs for reelection in November.

Cummins won his, and in July will be the longest serving elected official for the city.
