WALLA WALLA - Walla Walla police arrested Jesse Corona, 19, on investigation of two counts of first-degree assault following a fight between members of the same gang on Saturday.
Police arrested Corona at roughly 6 p.m. Christmas Eve following an investigation into a stabbing that hospitalized one man with stab wound near the base of his skull. Police also identified a second victim as a juvenile who attempted to break up the fight.
The incident began just before 2 a.m., Saturday, when a Walla Walla Patrol sergeant heard yelling in the area of the 400 block of South Eighth Avenue during a traffic stop, according to a press release issued by the Walla Walla Police Department on Sunday.
The officer investigated the fracas and discovered a man with serious wounds, including a puncture wound to the neck. A second person was helping the injured man. Both were taken to Providence St. Mary Medical Center.
Officers then followed a blood trail to a rental property at 412 S. Eighth Ave., a known gang gathering place, according to police. Detectives obtained a warrant to search the home, and SWAT team members conducted the search and collected DNA samples and other evidence.
Police served a second warrant at Corona's residence and seized clothing police believed Corona wore during the assault.
