IRRIGON, Ore. - Mac-Hi managed just nine points in the second half here Tuesday night as Irrigon raced to a 78-28 boys non-league prep basketball victory over the Pioneers.
The Knights burst to an 18-4 lead after one quarter, but Mac-Hi put up 15 points in the second period and trailed 39-19 before falling apart after the intermission.
"It's just a matter of making shots," Mac-Hi coach Curtis Carlson said. "They made 31 field goals to our 10, and when you make more shots you usually come out on top. We are just rushing our shots and not concentrating."
Jose Romero scored 20 points to lead the Irrigon attack. T.J. Hinton paced the Pioneers with six points.
"They also outrebounded us by a wide margin," Carlson said. "They just wanted the ball more than we did."
