POLICE - Victim assaulted during Walla Walla home invasion burglary



A 71 year old man was assaulted when he interrupted a burglary inside his residence last night in the 600 block of Catherine St. 911 received a call from the victim at about 12:40 a.m. reporting there were 2 suspects inside his home.

The victim awoke when he heard noises coming from the stairway inside his residence and armed himself with a shotgun. He observed one subject run down the stairs and out of his home. A second subject came out of a room next to the victim and grabbed at the shotgun. During the struggle, the victim fell down the stairs, but maintained possession of the weapon.

The second subject was described as male, late teens to early 20's, about 5'8", clean shaven, medium build, and wearing a black shirt and light colored pants. The victim's injuries were minor and medical treatment was declined.

There was no report of anything taken from the residence. Detectives will be working the case and request anybody with information to call the police department at 527-1960.
