Berna McCormack


Berna E. McCormack, formerly of Milton-Freewater passed away Dec. 20, 2011, at the Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, at the age of 83 years. A memorial service will be held on Friday, Dec. 30, 2011, at 2 p.m. at the Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home Chapel, 902 S. Main, Milton-Freewater, with Pastor Steve Lyons officiating. Those who wish may make memorial contributions in memory of Berna McCormack to the Walla Walla Community Hospice or the charity of choice in care of the funeral home.

Berna McCormack was born on Dec. 12, 1928, the daughter of Emil and Hazel (Kerns) Ebsen in Echo, Ore. She attended area schools and played drums in the school band before graduating from Stanfield High School in 1944. Berna helped her mother cook on many ranches. She met Paul Richardson and they were married in 1946. Together the couple raised four children and farmed for many years. Paul preceded her in death on Dec. 20, 1992. Berna later married William "Bill" McCormack. Bill preceded her in death on Nov. 4, 2011. She was a member of the Women's Auxiliary and the Blue Mt. Riders. Berna enjoyed riding horses, embroidery, cooking and having coffee with her old buddies.

Survivors include her children, Peggy Buxton of Pasco, Kay Richardson of Lind, Wash., Greg Richardson of Pasco, Paul Richardson of Lakeland, Ga., and Brenda McCormack of Milton-Freewater; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren
and other relatives and friends. Her parents and four brothers and one sister all preceded her in death.
