HELIX - Walla Walla Valley Academy bumped its girls season basketball record to 4-2 here Wednesday as the Knights overwhelmed Helix 63-20 in the first round of the Helix Christmas Tournament.

Amy Arnzen drilled a trio of 3-point baskets and scored 20 points to pace WWVA and lead all scorers in the game. Emily Field and Kristi Buell were also in double figures for the Knights with 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Sydney Caves scored seven points, Deidra Nitz finished with five and Kristin Williams scored four to account for the majority of the Grizzlies' scoring.

"We shot really well," WWVV assistant coach Lloyd Redberg said. "We started out with a 3-pointer and we got a lot of layups and open looks from the outside."

The Grizzlies led 32-6 at halftime.

"It was good to see Helix score a few more points in the second half, frankly," Redberg said. "They have a young team."

Helix will play Powder Valley here today in the tournament championship game while Helix meets Klickitat in the consolation finals. The score of Powder Valley's first-round victory over Klickitat was not available.
