WAITSBURG - Waitsburg-Prescott shook off some illness and some holiday blahs to post a 45-29 non-conference girls basketball victory over St. John-Endicott here Friday.
"We've been pretty sick," W-P coach Jerry Baker said. "We had a few days off and it was a little sloppy tonight."
W-P jumped out to a 13-6 lead after one quarter, but St. John-Endicott narrowed the gap to 19-13 at intermission.
W-P got better as the night progressed as W-P outscored the Eagles, 26-16, in the second half to post the 45-29 win.
"We got a little sloppy in the second quarter and let them back in it," Baker said. "In the second (half) we were pretty consistent."
Michal Schuster led St. J-End with 10 points.
W-P's Krystal Harris, who hit three treys on the night, led all scorers with 13. Ronnie Hulce chipped in 11 points and led W-P to a 33-21 rebounding edge. Kristen Potter joined Harris and Hulce in double figures as Potter scored 10.
W-P improves to 8-1 overall and hosts Weston-McEwen Tuesday.
"Our main concern is to get healthy," Baker said. "We'll get back at it next week and get ready for league.
