Tyson Noal Graves was born Nov. 19, 1976, to Brooks and Reita Graves. He attended Assumption Grade School, DeSales Junior Senior High School and graduated from the University of Idaho in 1999, with a degree in finance. He moved to Issaquah, Wash., to start a job at a brokerage, Freeman Weldwood. On April 28, 2001, he married Judith Crites from Idaho Falls, Idaho. They moved back to Walla Walla in 2003, and Tyson went to work at Baker Boyer Bank as a personal banker then was appointed investment executive of Investor Services. Tyson and Judy were blessed with two daughters, Madelyn and Avery. In the fall of 2010, Chris Avey and Tyson opened the business of Avey and Graves Wealth Management; an independent financial consulting firm.
Tyson was a loving father and his daughters were the center of his life. He enjoyed numerous hobbies: camping, hiking, snowmobiling, 4-wheeling and most recently cycling. He loved to cook and he shared this culinary talent with friends and family who considered themselves fortunate to taste the fruits of his labor. One of his favorite places was the family cabin, where he spent many hours from the time he was a baby through adulthood. He once wrote, "when you need a retreat or time to relax, the outdoors can offer you what you need and more."
He is survived by his parents; his sister, Tara; his daughters,Madelyn and Avery; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Mary Graves and Noal and Laura Lee Literal.
The memorial service will be Feb. 4, 2011, at 1 p.m. at Assumption Church, 2098 E. Alder. Memorial gifts may be made to GET (Guaranteed Education Tuition) for Madelyn and Avery's education in care of Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder.
There will be a gathering at the parish hall following the service.
