SUNNYSIDE - Sunnyside Christian's boys basketball team jumped to a big early lead against DeSales in a nonleague boys basketball game, and didn't let up en route to a 58-24 trouncing.

"We were clearly outmatched," said DeSales coach Allyn Griffin. "That's a very good team."

Sunnyside Christian has won state titles several times in the last few years, and was Class 1B champion in 2010.

"They're very good, and we just didn't match up," Griffin said.

Sunnyside Christian led 41-7 at the break.

"We played a whole lot better in terms of what we wanted to do," Griffin said. "I'm very pleased with our effort for most of the game. In the first half, we got good looks and made good choices, but they ball just didn't fall."

Steven Broesrsma led S-C with 12 points and Trevor Wanear had 11.

Alex Cordeiro led the Irish with six points.

DeSales (5-12 overall, 0-7 in league) has four more regular season games on the schedule, beginning with a Friday trip to Asotin.
