Expert to put on workshop for photo preservation


PENDLETON -- Tamstslikt Cultural Institute, 47106 Wildhorse Boulevard, will host a lecture and workshop by photographic archive expert Richard Engeman, "Taking Care of Your Photographs," from 6-8 p.m. Feb. 17. This free session is open to the public.

Engeman is an expert in preserving photographs. He will address the best care for and organization of family photographs and documents and also discuss digitization.

Participants are invited to bring photographs he can use as examples. Tamstslikt curatorial staff will be on hand to assist.

As a professional archivist, Engeman has preserved items ranging from photographs to wooden rails. He is author of "The Oregon Companion: an Historical Gazetteer of the Useful, the Curious and the Arcane" and "Eating It Up in Eden: Oregon Century Farm & Ranch Cookbook." He is also a contributor to the online Oregon Encyclopedia.
