DAYTON - Dain Henderson's 19 points paced Dayton's boys basketball team to its biggest win of the season here Friday night as the Bulldogs dropped Liberty Christian 50-47.
The victory was the first over Liberty Christian in Dayton coach Roy Ramirez's tenure, and it boosted the Bulldogs to 5-5 in the Southeast 2B District and into the thick of playoff contention. Dayton hiked its season mark to 10-8 going into its final two games of the regular season at DeSales Friday and at Tri-Cities Prep on Saturday.
"We are very proud of what we did tonight," Ramirez said. "This is one of our best wins that I can remember, and this sets us up to make a run in the playoffs."
"We're pretty excited about out how we can finish up," Ramirez said. "I think we keep improving pretty much every time we go out there."
Jake Siefken matched Henderson with a 19-point game to lead the Patriots. Bryan Corrigan added 14 points and Mike Olson scored 12, but no other LC player produced more than two points in the game.
"This was a close contest throughout," Ramirez said. "All of our guys contributed. This is how we hoped to play way back when we started practice months ago."
