DAYTON - Plagued by a poor free-throw shooting performance and too many turnovers, the Dayton Bulldogs girls basketball team lost to Liberty Christian 63-54 here Friday night in Southeast 2B District game.

"It was a great game," Dayton coach Scott Hudson said. "We just had way too many turnovers (28) and gave them too many opportunities to score. We also didn't shoot well at the foul line."

Dayton made just 9-of-24 shots from the charity stripe and Liberty Christian scored 23 points from the foul line.

"If we had just made as many free throws as we usually do, then it would have been a tie game or maybe a win for us," Hudson said.

The leading scorer for Dayton was McKayla Bickelhaupt with 14 points. Malia Frame led the team with with eight rebounds.

"The girls are really working hard," Hudson said. "They haven't give up on the season. That should be a big difference for them as they go forward."

Hannah Berges led the Patriots with a game-high 24 points and Sydney Higgins was also in double figures with 12 points.
