Garfield County Public Hospital District
Garfield County Public Hospital District commissioners are Roger Dumbeck, Jenness Evanson, Jim Maves, Pat Richardson and Vonni Mulroney. With all present Wednesday the board:
STANDARDS: Approved board standards checklist. The checklist outlines a schedule of tasks the board needs to accomplish. Unanimous.
HOME HEALTH: Americorps volunteer Kate Forand told board members on her work on health home strategies. She is working on outreach and chronic disease management and will aggregate data into a patient registry
CRITICAL ACCESS HOSPITAL: Discussed evaluation and scorecard.
FINANCE: Passed resolution to balance 2010 budget after learning the district ended 2010 with a $1.2 million net gain. Unanimous. Also learned accounts receivable are up slightly. District CEO Andrew Craigie noted the district has made considerable progress, as a year ago staff was taking furloughs to help the district stay in the black.
CAPITAL PROJECTS: Passed a resolution giving final approval of completed capital projects. Projects include a modernized nurse call system, replacement of diagnostic lab equipment, installation of emergency power system, replacement of phone system, repair of the fire alarm system and upgrading the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system. The district also completed two roofing projects and began working on exterior repainting during 2010. Unanimous.
ELECTRICAL: Learned electrical inspector approved the district's electrical system. Although the system is deemed acceptable, Any significant changes made to the portion of the hospital constructed in 1948 could require upgrading of the entire electric system, Craigie said.
RETREAT: Discussed format of strategic planning retreat scheduled Feb. 17 at 10 a.m.
