Blue Devils can't hold Chiawana in regular-season finale

PASCO - Wa-Hi's girls basketball team closed its regular season out on a tough note, falling at Chiawana, 66-25, on Saturday.

The loss did not change the Blue Devils playoff positioning however, as Wa-Hi still sits fifth in the Big Nine and booked for a Friday trip to Wenatchee at either 6 or 7 p.m.

"We were really just working on some things," said Wa-Hi head coach Jill Meliah. "We knew that tonight wasn't going to change where we were in the standings so we took it as a chance to experiment a little."

The Blue Devils (8-12, 4-8) were lead by Libbie Jimenez, who scored eight points and dished out two assists, but they struggled from the field, hitting only 8-of-36 shots.

"Chiawana is obviously an excellent team," Meliah said. "They made things tough for us tonight with their size and overall talent."

A win versus Wenatchee will give Wa-Hi the chance for redemption against Chiawana the following week in the playoffs.
