Pomeroy's Knebel locks district wrestling title

COULEE CITY - Pomeroy's Tory Knebel claimed an individual title at 160 pounds during the 2B-1B district wrestling championships Saturday.

Knebel, who earned his sixth tournament crown of the season, defeated Reardan's Logan Zunker - last year's Class B state champion at 135 pounds - in the 160-pound title match, 6-0.

Several Pirates wrestlers finished as runners-up in their respective weight classes including Wyatt Hyer (125), Wyatt Jenkins (171) and Austin Reisdorph (189).

Jacob Moore was third at 140 pounds, Nick Tewalt was fourth at 135, Tyler King and Ryan Smith were sixth at 130 and 145 pounds, respectively, and Kenny Carr finished seventh at 140 pounds.

Mike Wymore will wrestle for the fifth and sixth seeds into the regional when the tournament opens Friday in Reardan.
