A longtime Walla Walla resident, Maria De Los Angeles De Ramon
Garza, 73, died Feb. 4, 2011, at Walla Walla General Hospital.
Maria was born on Aug. 8, 1937, in Sabinas Hidalgo, Mexico, to Silvano and Barbarita (Vasques) Ramon. She moved with her parents, four brothers and five sisters to Edinburg, Texas, at the age of 12.
Maria married Erasmo "Ed" Garza on April 23, 1957, and later moved to Walla Walla. She had two sons and three daughters.
Maria worked at General Foods, Hamada Brother's Greenhouse, ABC Taco, D K and Jacky's Greenhouse, where she retired. Maria enjoyed helping others, traveling, gardening, playing Bingo, doing arts and crafts, dancing and spending time with the grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Erasmo "Ed" Garza Sr.; five children, Irma Aranda, Erasmo Jr., Domingo, Virginia and Jose Garza; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in
death by her parents and a son-in-law, Francisco Gonzales.
Viewing and visitation will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011, from 11 a.m. until after the rosary at the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla. The rosary will be recited on
Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011, at 7 p.m. at the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home with Deacon Olegario Reyes officiating. The funeral mass will be
celebrated on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011, at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father Patrick Kerst, celebrant. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association through
the funeral home.
