A College Place man led Milton-Freewater police on a 30-mile chase early Tuesday before he and a passenger in his vehicle were arrested.
Milton-Freewater officials say a patrol officer attempted to pull over the driver of a vehicle with expired tabs on the north end of town early Tuesday. Instead the traffic stop turned into a chase when the driver, identified as Thomas L. Nelson, 19, of 1031 S.E. Scenic View Drive, drove off, leading officers into the east county area at speeds of 65 and 70 mph before the chase ended near Spofford Road.
Nelson reportedly had a juvenile warrant for his arrest. He was also arrested for investigation of felony eluding, misdemeanor eluding, possession of methamphetamine, reckless driving, reckless endangering.
An occupant of his vehicle, Jesse Vargas Quintana Jr., 35, who has no known address, was also arrested on a felony warrant from the Washington state Parole Board.
